Day 9

The village bell rang early and the sun was barely peeking over the horizon. As the sleepy villagers awoke, [info]evilben clones dressed up as town guards ran all over the place, seemingly random as they harrassed villagers right and left. It became clear what the commotion was about when news reached the various villagers that the MAGISTRATE was dead.

At town hall, the villagers were let in one by one, after intensive questioning by the clones. As everyone looked around the room, they realized that [info]ragnarok_now was missing.

SUMMARY: [info]ragnarok_now the MAGISTRATE is DEAD!

Day will end tomorrow at 11am. All comic con attendees are now on the watchers list.

Well that was random.

Eight players left.

We have to catch a wolf or the sorcerer today. If not, then tomorrow "team wolf" will have three votes, which is enough to force a tie, which could pretty much end the game.

We could elect a sheriff, but then we run the risk of giving "team wolf" even more power. The only obvious candidate for sheriffhood is hungryandhollow, due to his undisputed CUPID claim. Given that, I'd place good odds on him getting eaten tonight; the wolves won't want to screw up their chances of forcing a tie by allowing him to become sheriff or accidentally eating the sorcerer.

We need some clues here people.

Here's the list...

cambler
cuddlycthulhu
daedalus4096
darkjuan
devil_engine
gorillashaman
hungryandhollow
lorriet

DEAD:
chessiekitty the VILLAGER
evilben the VILLAGER

sonicbunny the VILLAGER
amphitrite27 the HUNTER
baronlaw the WEREWOLF
blackbeardin the SEER
dragonattack the WEREWOLF
stride the VILLAGER
makellan the WEREWOLF
flipperchaz the VILLAGER
ragnarok_now the MAGISTRATE

Left:
2 wolves
1 Sorcerer
1 Cupid
1 Nader

I'm at a loss.

I know I'm not a wolf. I can presume that h&h isn't a wolf because of his uncontested claim. That leaves 6. At least two of those 6 are lovers, and at least 2 are wolves, not necessarily exclusively.

Ideally, we pick one of the two wolf-lovers and end the game. That would take luck on the pick and luck that the lovers were both wolves. I don't hold out much hope for that.

There's no benefit to H&H revealing the lovers that I can see.

What am I missing?

crap crap crap...I'm completely lost on this one.

Darkjuan is the only person I can see being a wolf because of his silence the whole way through...But then again one could say the same of me.

It appears that I'm already on the chopping block as is, and seeing as I'm not a special, I'd like to go ahead and just sacrifice myself without risk to the other specials that might have some weight in what's left here.

Now I realize that this makes me look extremely suspicious, but seeing as I'm already suspected and any day now I'm going to get lynched..I might as well offer myself up. And if I'm not gonna get lynched, then I'm surely wolf food for tonight.

Although we run the risk that I might be one of the lovers so if I die, I drag someone with me. That's not a hint, it's purely speculation.

That said, I offer myself up.

what

[info]hungryandhollow

July 26 2007, 21:16:51 UTC 4 years ago

Alright, I know the wolf strategy is bizarre, but I'm still expecting to die when the wolves eat next. So far, the only person that looks like a villager to me is Gorillashaman, thanks to his exposing of Makellan. Now I've been fooled plenty of times, I'll be the first to admit that, but no one else seems to have done anything that dramatically hurt the wolves. Everyone else, I'm pretty much neutral on.

I'm hesitant to do the Sheriff thing because all it does is make certain my death by wolf tonight, and there's no one to pass it on to, really. So I don't see any real benefit to it at all.

I'll see if I can think of anyone to vote for and vote later.

[info]lorriet

July 26 2007, 22:03:38 UTC 4 years ago

Here are my thoughts...

Cambler and Gorillashaman both voted twice to lynch Baronlaw, before the seer pegged him. Very villager-esque.

I know I am not a wolf, and H&H is uncontested as to his claim of being cupid.

Am I missing anything?

That seems, at least for me, to narrow the field a bit.

[info]daedalus4096

July 26 2007, 22:06:34 UTC 4 years ago

Not necessarily. They could simply be trying to put a smoke-screen on themselves. Alternately, one of them could be both a wolf and one of the lovers. If that were the case, they would *need* to get their fellow wolves lynched eventually, in order to satisfy the Lovers' Victory.

unvote [info]devil_engine and here's why...

1. Seems Devil_engine has continuously stated that he is, in fact, not a special.

2. He has admitted the only reason why he suggested that we lynch him was to "take the heat of of H&H" which doesn't make any sense at all to me.

3. If he was a Lover, why would he vote to kill himself, knowing that his Lover would die as well? That seems to be a violation of the idea of the Lover role (if you can't vote to lynch your lover, why does it make sense to vote yourself knowing that it will kill them?).

4. This especially makes no sense, considering the fact that, even if he is a suicidal Lover, he doesn't know the status of his Lover which seems like a double waste because of the potential of getting the village nothing but deeper in the hole.

For now I'm going to hold my vote. Personally, anyone who continues to vote for Devil sounds like a bad guy to me.

salvation?

I'm such a goon.
We might still have a shot, somebody check me on this.

Assume today we lynch a VILLAGER, and the wolves eat hungryandhollow. That leaves

2W 1S 3V

What happens if all the villagers then announce that they are wolves? Think through both cases where the SORCERER does and does not out himself.

[info]hungryandhollow

July 27 2007, 00:48:38 UTC 4 years ago

Re: salvation?

I've been thinking about that, but the problem is this: who the fuck are people gonna vote to lynch? The two wolves will stand united, knowing they are wolves. It's possible that two villagers will stand united. But the Sorcerer and the remaining Villager, they'll just be baffled. Which is not to say that it won't work - I'm just saying it's gonna be a shitshow.

In case anybody gets the bright idea to lynch hungryandhollow, forget about it. If we do, there's a 20% chance the wolves will eat the SORCERER tonight, sure, but if we don't then there's a 42% chance we'll lynch either a WOLF or the SORCERER today.

I'm just flummoxed.

I had a theory all worked out, but now, am seriously doubting it.

Yesterday, before Gorillashaman posted his idea about everyone claiming wolfhood if a tie occurs, I had a similar idea. I didn't post it because I couldn't work it out in my head if it were a good thing.

When he posted his similar idea, I just thought...this can't be good...I'm just not that good at this game.

I am feeling like we are being manipulated into going in a direction; but by whom? The quiet ones, or the ones with elaborate plans?

Gr!

Ok, suspicions revisited...

Daedalus, I believe, is a wolf (oh, btw, vote daedalus4096):
1. Daedalus voted to go against gorillashaman as opposed to Makellan despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
2. Daedalus has never voted against any of the wolves except when it was blisteringly obvious who they were.
3. He was all to quick to jump on [info]devil_engine's line of thinking. He has since stuck with that line of reasoning.
4. Didn't vote until late in the game against baronlaw after he was outed.
Voting History (final votes): Giantlaser, myshanter, myshanter (carry over from the tie), rustymaggot, gorillashaman, makellan, baronlaw, makellan, flipperchaz,

Cambler is a villager:
1. He voted against [info]dragonattack very early on and did not change his vote even though there was no chance of him winning and he did vote for [info]baronlaw when there was some chance of that person getting lynched before baron was outed.
Voting History: gnatdbug, dragonattack, myshanter (carry over from the tie), evilben, baronlaw, baronlaw, baronlaw, makellan,

Darkjuan is probably a wolf/sorceror:
1. His votes have been against some of the most vocal people that say they are villagers.
2. At this late in the game tossing around votes to lynch without any real evidence.
3. Has never voted against a wolf except when all evidence points at that wolf.
Voting History: flipperchaz, devil_engine, myshanter (carry over from the tie), rustymaggot, chessiekitty, hungryandhollow, baronlaw, makellan, devil_engine,

Devil_engine is a villager:
1. This whole fiasco that he's done today. I've already put my break down on it.
Voting History: gnatdbug, aphirite27, amphitrite27 (carry over from the tie), rustymaggot, abstained, baronlaw, baronlaw, makellan, flipperchaz,

Gorrilla is a villager (but could be a sorceror):
1. Has repeatedly changed votes depending on evidence that contradicts other votes, always allows for other people's ideas to interact with his.
Voting History: sonicbunny, amphirite27, amphitrite27 (carry over from the tie), rustymaggot, baronlaw, baronlaw, baronlaw, makellan, flipperchaz,

H&H is a villager:
1. Uncontested claim to being Cupid.
Voting History: stride, amphitrite27, myshanter (carry over from the tie), rustymaggot, chessiekitty, baronlaw, baronlaw, makellan, flipperchaz,

Lorriet is most likely a villager:
1. Multiple abstentions in the face of insufficient evidence.
2. Has changed votes several times when faced with conflicting evidence.
Voting History: gnatdbug, myshanter, myshanter (carry over from the tie), makellan, H&H, baronlaw, baronlaw, makellan, abstained,

And, it should go without saying, I'm a villager. I already stated my evidence to my claim here: http://millershollow.livejournal.com/151829.html?thread=2328341
