The village was awaken by a great wailing come morning. Disturbed and upset villagers one by one poked their heads out of their cottages and hesitantly made their way to the cries. As they approached
evilben's cottage they found it surrounded by over a dozen
evilben clones all sobbing and crying. A suck walked jubilently through the throng of clones. The bird pulled out a napkin and tucked it under his chin as he pulled out a fork and knife, licking his bill hungrily. He quacked to the clones, who still upset and crying grabbed the mauled form of
evilben and began dragging him off to the Evil Ben Snack Factory.
As the town was watching, several clones ran forward and roughly grabbed
dragonattack, manacled him and led him away to jail.
SUMMARY:
evilben the VILLAGER is DEAD!
SUMMARY:
dragonattack is SEQUESTERED!
Rule Note: This day will not end until 11am Monday morning. Yes it is a long day.

We might as well roll dice to see who we kill.
This is VERY frustrating. Without protection for a seer, we're firing blind.
Lunchtime... I'm going to give this more thought.

And believed it would get him eaten. He did, in fact, get eaten. But I have trouble believing Gorillashaman in particular would be so ham-handed - I know it's the Wine In Front Of Me thing, but at the same time, it seems too blunt. But at the same time, I don't have anyone else, except Makellan, who seems vaguely suspicious to me. Unfortunately, with him getting married, he won't have much chance to defend himself.
So... another Day 1 all over again?

Every night, who is the seer most likely to spy on? The most suspected person who isn't lynched. So every night the wolves eat that person. If you had a 50% guess rate as to who the seer was going to spy on, you'd cut the effectiveness of the seer in half. If you got lucky you could cut it by 75% easily.
This also means that discussion is cut way down, because everyone who spoke a lot (suspects tending to speak more to defend themselves) is dead. Now normally, being quiet is just as dangerous as being loud. But no one can blame anyone for being quiet, because half of us are barely posting, and the other half are mostly posting about how they have no suspects. So now quiet wolves don't stand out.
The first kill is Gnatbug, the runner-up in votes. The second is Amphitrite, also the runner-up. The third is Giantlaser - that one I can't figure out. The fourth is Evilben, whom we requested that the Seer spy on.
Anyway, like I said, I'm not 100% sure that's what they're doing, but the pattern is definitely there. So Seer, please scan people who aren't close to being lynched, so when you come out you'll have as much info for us as possible, and not just info on dead people.
I'm still a little suspicious of Gorillashaman, but I agree that Baronlaw seems to be trying to get other people to start a Gorillashaman/Cambler bandwagon. I'm also still suspicious of Stride. So I'll vote Stride, subject to change, naturally.
P.S. I'm claiming this kill-the-seer's-targets thing as the Hungryandhollow Strategy, whether or not I'm right about the wolves using it :P
July 20 2007, 22:56:00 UTC 4 years ago
I wouldn't say amazing.
Following your line of reasoning on the third day the wolves didn't eat the runner-up. The most likely senario is that said runner-up was a wolf. The two other candidates at that time were makellan and yourself.
Again, assuming you are correct, bringing it up makes it seem unlikely that you are a wolf.
vote makellan
On the other hand, you could be trying to mislead the seer. And it is quite likely that there are other reasons for their picks.

Someone voted for you, and so I'm following on the off chance that he's the seer, as he couldn't come out and say so even if he was.
I can be convinced to do otherwise.
It's really that simple.

If you don't believe I'm the Cupid, well, I can always out the lovers, but that probably does more harm than good. I don't know why a wolf not under threat of lynching would claim to be the Seer, but since I'm Cupid I don't know why the supposed Seer would say I was a wolf.
July 23 2007, 09:29:22 UTC 4 years ago
Well, you're sort of right...
Damn. This was my worst case scenario. You're right, I'm a lying seer. I thought you were a wolf from a lot of your interactions with baronlaw and I thought I could blow some smoke and get you lynched without having to seer you, and maybe even get the fourth wolf to out himself. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
However, my worst case scenario isn't all that bad(I don't think).

False Seer!
So assuming blackbeardin is a false seer, which will be proved after my lynching, the question is why?If he is a villager is he just trying to steer the mob? Is he one of the other specials, say the sorcerer who also wins when the wolves win?
Let's say I am a wolf and he outed me and potentially one other wolf dragon_attack, how does this help him? In two rounds he will get two wolves and the wolves will get him and at least one more villager. Then you are back at turn 1 again. But if he is the sorcerer he kills another villager for the wolves (me!) and the wolves eat another villager say hungryandhollow. He is left alive for the villagers vengence but he pleads an honest mistake he is just a villager please don't kill him in retaliation.
I can't make sense of the strategy here, either way he dies in one turn or two. Is there any position in the game where deflecting blame away from himself and at me would help?
Unless he is the wolf!!!

Hi, guys, I'm back what did I...oh sweet jesus.*reads, reads reads*
We're so screwed.
Well, I think I'll have to vote abstain, the reason behind which is that baronlaw's screwed either way and if he's not a wolf then you better believe I'll be eating

July 23 2007, 17:48:30 UTC 4 years ago
Things seemed so much simpler last night. So, if I understand all this correctly, Blackbeardin is claiming that he's the seer, but has deliberately lied about Hungryandhollow. He does, however, still claim that Baronlaw and Dragonattack are wolves. Meanwhile, Hungryandhollow has claimed to be cupid as his defense.
At this point, I find it very unlikely that Blackbeardin is the seer. Voting for him, however, would be a waste today. If he's telling the truth this time, he'll get eaten tonight. If he's not, then he gets lynched tomorrow. While I'm tempted to join the bandwagon on Baronlaw, that would require that I believe one word out of our "seer's" mouth, which I don't. So, I'm going to go back to my previous guess...
Unvote Hungryandhollow
Vote Makellan
This shouldn't have any significant effect on the outcome of the vote, except for making me feel better that I'm not going along with the wolf's plan. If Baronlaw does turn out to be a wolf, then I'm willing to give Blackbeardin the benefit of the doubt and vote for Dragonattack tomorrow. Otherwise, he's walkin' the plank.
